Day 10 (03-04-2020)
Charity begins at home
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, "Charity wipes out sins same as the water extinguishes fire". We, all have one way or the other given charity. The amount could have been anything, the things donated could have been as small as a cup of tea to a golden chain and what not. And I'm proud enough to say that I've always been surrounded by such people, who have a very soft heart and try to be good with people in need. But, what have we confined charity to? Giving alms, providing food, arranging house funds, getting them a job, etc. Well, that's a good part of the charity, what about the other part? Oh, wait, you don't know that yet, right? Then stay connected and I'll elaborate it to you all what the other part or the other side of the coin (charity) means.
Humans, from ages have been known to put hand in hand and do good for the society, the downtrodden, the needy and the less sourced people. These stories are in our religious scripts, our history books and in our present era too. But, what about the charity of TIME, PRESENCE, SMILE, LAUGHTER, MEET-UP, HUGS and an ADVICE. It's not always the money, the food or the shelter they need, sometimes a hug will do. The time you can spend with them will be the best charity they'll receive. Your presence makes them feel aloft about life. The smile you pass on makes them connect to you as your own. The jokes you share helps them talk to you without any hesitation. The regular meet-ups make them grow as a better person. The advice is no less than any previous gem they can have in life. This is the other side of the charity which almost none of us is aware of.
Now, there is a big problem. People will think that they'll do it and will probably go on with this with the world outside but stop. Remember, Charity begins at Home. So, this part of charity doesn't require one to be needy, poor or downtrodden. It can be given to the richest of the rich. And this is most of the times for your family and friends, to whom you ignore with such charity. They're in need of this from such a long time, they're feeling the poorest humans on earth right now. All they require is, your time, presence, smile, hug and some advice. Your parents need you to give them more time, your siblings require your advice and guidance, your friends need some hugs and smiles, for they've to share a lot with you.
I hope from today on wards you'll see charity in a very different way and do both sides of the coin. It's not that one is more important than another, they both are equally important and require 100% of your attention and dedication. The successful charity is seen in the smiles of the needy. The smile of the those who are in need of your money, food, shelter and clothes. The smile of those who are in need of your time, presence, smile, hugs and advice. You'll start encouraging yourself for doing this good and afterwards you'll appreciate someone who is already doing this part of the charity for you. Someone, who's making you smile, giving you time, helping you with some advice and presence.
As we go into double figure days of being in quarantine i.e Day no 10, let's double up the charity and double the enthusiasm of not giving up on life. We have overcome disasters before, we will overcome it this time too. Together we stand till then. Put a smile on your face and make someone's day.
Till then Bon Voyage guys, Sayonara!!
P. S. Today's positive is that we have to understand how our presence and time gives someone a reason to smile. How our smile makes them joyful for the whole day. So, let's not bother in making someone's day without spending anything into it. Rather, by smiling, our face muscles will be in work and it'll help us.
